It’s been very hard for me lately. I’m not in danger of self-harm, but I’ve been haunted this month by the second anniversary of a friend’s suicide. I also am frankly feeling gender dysphoria pretty strongly. It’s just a general weariness. 🔗

I’ll say that today, I got an unexpected surprise sequel episode from a series I love, and it totally gave my Little Kid an absolute holy fuck that is amazing OMG reaction. :) 🔗

I’m watching DS9. I’m listening to the very opening of “Q-Less.” I’m convinced that Dr. Bashir is doing his best William Shatner impression.

“Among the new [Chicago Teachers Union] provisions are gender-affirming health care for staff, a trained Gender Support Coordinator in every school, codified protections for chosen names and pronouns, and a mandate that every school upholds inclusive curriculum standards and supports student-led Gender and Sexuality Alliances. The message from educators is simple: every student deserves to feel safe, seen, and supported — no matter what extremists in Washington, D.C., or state capitals may say.” (link)

Rare recommendation from me. Black Mirror S7E01 is … too dark for our time. I know that only encourages people to find it out, but read the plot somewhere (Wikipedia, Google, etc.) without watching the episode, and you’ll understand why. We’re in a dark time. This is too dark for it.

Watching an old TNG episode “The Outrageous Okona.” It is a bit funny, because ‘Okona’ is clearly a Han Solo pastiche, and in the opening credits, you see “Guest Starring Joe Piscopo as The Comic.” Loving the sheer ’80s/’90s-ness of this episode.only a few minutes in. And TERI HATCHER as the transporter officer!

@TonyPannWBAL: Ok. I guess I have to address this. The information on your phone app comes FROM data provided by NOAA for free. NOAA gathers weather data (daily balloon launches) and feeds it into the modeling so your phone can tell you it’s going to rain tomorrow. Saying we don’t need NOAA or the NWS because I can see the weather on my phone, is like saying we don’t need farmers because I can just go to the grocery store. End of rant. Kids are not responsible for:

- Figuring things out on their own
“This is for someone who’s been putting themselves last for too long. You are worth prioritizing. Your beauty is undeniable, your spirit is unmatched, and the way you care for others is a gift, But don’t forget to care for you. You are worth celebrating.”
“You are an irreplaceable gash in the fabric of reality. Your keening static howl is like no other, and if it faded from the abyss, the void that would remain would be unfillable, and the mansions of silence would forever fill with our lament.”
