St. Peter: “In 99999999976.33% of all branches of the universal wavefunction, you are an evil dictator who enslaves and murders hundreds of millions! ‘You’ happen to be the version whose wicked ambitions were repeatedly thwarted by bizarre coincidences over and over and over.” (continued)

Motivation is weather: changeable, unpredictable, often absent when you need it most. Discipline is climate: the steady, reliable conditions you create for yourself regardless of how you feel on any given day.

And so, we know how this is going to work: Republicans are going to keep cutting, keep destroying basic services, dismantling the social safety net, and things will inevitably go wrong. Floods, hurricanes, pandemics, food contamination, industrial accidents, you name it. And they’ll shriek and moan that you’re politicizing a tragedy if you point out that their policies led directly to the American carnage unfurling before us. All while their base dreams up new conspiracy theories that conveniently put the blame on someone else, the Democrats, migrants, the Jews, trans people, anyone but their own party. If you’re doom-scrolling for updates on Trump’s big beautiful bill, I want you to stop with me for just a moment. Because, yeah, we’re probably gonna get some bad news, and it’s gonna hurt a lot of people. I’ve had no other way to put it: the Republican Party has truly betrayed the United States with what they are doing, and it’s horrible. (continued)
