What to Donate to Your Local Food Bank

Let’s talk about why it’s better to donate the more expensive mac and cheese versus the cheap stuff. I’m also in my garage, by the way. Hey, how you doing? I have a massive donation haul behind me. I don’t really want to pit brands against each other. I love Kraft, love Velveeta. Kraft probably owns Velveeta, I don’t know.

I was younger and we would get food from the food bank. We didn’t have butter and we didn’t have milk and it was a not very good mac and cheese. This one just comes with a cheese packet, so all you have to do is boil the pasta and then put the cheese packet in there.

Seasonings. Not a lot of people think to donate seasonings. I usually donate store brand, but I did have some PR from Dano’s that was unopened. A bunch of garlic powder, onion powder, Italian seasoning, salt, pepper, stuff like that.

Instant oatmeal packs, another good breakfast idea. Cereal’s great. Cereal’s awesome. I loved when we got cereal from the food bank. Again, we didn’t have milk. I’m not saying don’t donate cereal, okay? Guys, I need you to just listen with both ears.

Peanut butter. Peanut butter’s great, but make sure you donate jelly. They always donate peanut butter, but they never donate jelly. Both grape and strawberry. So let me know in the comments if you’re a strawberry girl or a grape girl, because I’m a grape jelly and peanut butter type girl.

Complete pancake mix, okay? It has to say complete. Just add water. You don’t need eggs. You don’t need milk. You mix water with this and you’ve got pancakes.

Can anyone guess what I’m gonna say? Syrup, yes, thank you. Some bottles of syrup. I’m telling you, the Kroger deals, where these come out to like $1.12 a box, because they do the buy five, say five or whatever. Buy five or more. Buy five, get, they do something and it’s a really good price. This, this, and the syrup are usually all on that deal. Stock up on those, send them to your local food pantry.

I’m sure there’s more that I can’t think of off the top of my head, but finally, treats for the kids. I know what people are gonna say. Don’t you want a treat every once in a while? Something that I thought was a treat was when we would go to the bread bank, the bread pantry. The bread, what was it called? I think it was the bread bank. What I thought was a treat was when we got to get cinnamon raisin bread and a loaf of regular bread. Get some treats for the kids.

These were on sale, Halloween clearance. They’re 40 classic size rice crispy treats and this was like six bucks. Cause it’s the same food for 70% off.
